I’m back with a “Waiting On Wednesday” post hosted by Breaking the Spine which allows readers to showcase up and coming books!
My choice of the week:
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
A Torch Against the Night takes readers into the heart of the Empire as Laia and Elias fight their way north to liberate Laia’s brother from the horrors of Kauf Prison. Hunted by Empire soldiers, manipulated by the Commandant, and haunted by their pasts, Laia and Elias must outfox their enemies and confront the treacherousness of their own hearts.
In the city of Serra, Helene Aquilla finds herself bound to the will of the Empire’s twisted new leader, Marcus. When her loyalty is questioned, Helene finds herself taking on a mission to prove herself—a mission that might destroy her, instead.
Expected publication: August 30, 2016.
OMG. Y’all don’t know how much I’m excited about this book! I loved An Ember in the Ashes and I just really wanted to continue Laia and Elias’ story right after. The cover was recently revealed for this book and I don’t know how I feel about it. The color definitely suits the title of the book but I just expected so much more. I fell in love with the cover of An Ember in the Ashes and I expected a WOW factor from the sequel too, but it just didn’t happen for me. But I’m definitely not judging a book by it’s cover because I expect to love this installment as much, maybe even more, than the first book!
I follow Tahir on Twitter and she tweeted this amazing gift to us readers:
An excerpt of the first chapter of this book, *happy tears.* I quickly devoured the first chapter and it was amazing! It picked off literally right where the first book ended and it was so fast paced. I promise I was feeling so many emotions while reading it and I just wanted more after I finished it. Here is the link to the first chapter: A Torch Against the Night. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
