Summary:

“Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…”

Review:

HOLY AMAZE-BALLS, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!

My goodness, this book left me speechless and all in my feelings. I told myself I wasn’t going to write a review on the rest of the books in this series, but I just have to share my thoughts. I literally assaulted my cousin until she promised me to read the series so we could have a huge discussion. It was assault-worthy; it was just that good.

I don’t even know where to start; I’m so mind-blown.

Onyx left off where the last book ended; Katy was trying to deny her feelings for Daemon, while he finally starts to show his affections more, only to have a new character come into town and suspiciously start to grow closer to Katy, all while trying to dodge the Department of Defense’s questions. There were so many twist and turns that shocked me and had me asking myself “Did that really happen?!”

I WAS SO MAD AT THOSE TWO EVIL CHARACTERS THOUGH! I kind of saw it coming in a way. I never trust random characters popping up and being all smiley-smiley. Sure made one heck of a book though.

*The plot reminds me of the CW TV show Smallville. It has beautiful aliens with supernatural abilities and bad people hunting them down and a gem/rock that can weaken said alien.*

The characters are so well written! Something about Armentrout’s writing will make you love the characters and be so emotionally invested, like I definitely was! I loveee Daemon in this book, he’s sweeter, more protective, and you finally get to see a vulnerable said to him. Katy had me so mad at certain times (when she was with Blake mostly), but I adore her too. I began to see her as a strong, confident woman and I was happy to get to see her grow up. And the fact that she’s a book lover and blogger makes me love her even more! Also, the alien concept was more understandable in this book.

Again, I freaking love this series! I don’t even know what to say anymore, I just love everything about it. I stopped doing my homework to finish this book in two days. Can’t wait until I get my hands on the third book. A must read book, times two!
